Michael Keaton "Batman"
This portrait of Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne from the 1989 Tim Burton film was sculpted to top off a Batman Display under the rubber costume.
As with other portraits, as much reference was dug out as I could find [this can be pretty tricky some times] and an armature was made and bolted onto a wooden base.Clay was then applied to a rough human shape, and eyes inserted to help with visualization as well as to get it anatomically right.
The sculpture was refined over a few weeks before being moulded in silicone rubber and fibreglass. He needed no hair as his head was to be covered by the mask anyway.The resulting resin casting was seamed and primed before being painted in washes to get a dermal depth. The eye areas were painted black as it needed to be for the mask, and custom made eyes created and installed into the head.
