R2D2 replica prop, lifesize model.

R2D2 took a few weeks to finish, but was worth the effort in the end.
This life size replica started by making scale drawings, from which I could make the full size parts from various woods and filler..

When the patterns were completed, they were moulded and cast in fibreglass. The body then had the panel lines cut in, before being sprayed with primer and the final paint colours applied. The finer detailing parts were made separately and attached as the whole thing was assembled.
The three legged R2 was made for a customer by taking large silicone moulds off the original and taking a casting out of it, and making a new middle leg pattern made and cast.
